The famous Waterfront Festival gives people an excuse to visit Belleville in July, when the usually tranquil Bay of Quinte shoreline comes alive with music, water-ski shows, hundreds of boats and ethnic delights from food to dance. During the Winter, visitors enjoy cozying up by the fire in one of our famous restaurants, shopping, the arts and every winter sport imaginable!

Shannonville Motorsport Excitement

Over the past few years, Shannonville Motorsport Park has become Canada's most successful motorsport facility. Located just east of Belleville in Shannonville, it draws spectators and competitors from across the continent. For more information call (613) 969-1906.

Quinte Raceway

For trotting and pacing enthusiasts, ten races are held every Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and on holiday Mondays at 1:30 p.m. from May to September. The raceway is located at the corner of Sidney St. and Bridge St. West. For more information call (613) 968-3266.

Belleville Bulls & Quinte Sports Centre

The Sports Centre features two first quality ice surfaces and all the amenities of a first class sports facility. It includes the Yardmen Arena, one of a very few Olympic sized ice surfaces in Canada which is home to the Belleville Bulls OHL Junior A Hockey Team and the Wally Dever Arena, home of the Belleville McFarlands Senior A Hockey Team.

The Sports Centre hosts a variety of musical cultural and sporting events. Belleville's Parks and Recreation offices are located right in the building and the facility offers modern meeting rooms and the new Bulls Ticket Office. Pure Springs Trout & Walleye Farm:

Public fishing preserve for the whole family with fresh and smoked trout sales. Open year round, seven days a week and located 10 minutes north of Shannonville. Exit off the 401-just follow the signs 613-396-5490.

Quinte Entertainment Centre:

Bowling, bingo, driving range, mini-golf, outdoor batting cages, rock 'n' bowl Friday and Saturday nights. Located on Hwy 62 north of Hwy 401 613-967-2695.

Monster Mini-Golf:

At Quinte Mall parking lot, east end behind the Shell Centre (Seasonal).

Museums

Glanmore National Historic Site:

A glimpse of Victorian life in Belleville over 100 years ago housing a fine collection of art, furniture, paintings, lamps and local displays; located at 257 Bridge Street East 613-962-2329.

Hastings & Prince Edward Regiment Military Museum:

War is not glorified at the museum but presented as an integral part of Canadian heritage. Open Tuesdays 1:00PM - 4:00PM or by appointment. Located in the Armoury on the corner of Bridge and Pinnacle Street, Belleville 613-966-2125.

Belleville Scout/Guide Museum:

Canada's largest museum dedicated to the preservation of Scout & Guide history through a growing collection of memorabilia donations. Open by appointment only; located on 350 Dundas Street West, Belleville 613-966-2740 or 613-968-7605.

Hastings Heritage Centre:

Historical information and memorabilia depicting the heritage of Hastings County. Located at 154 Old Cannifton Road North, Belleville 613-968-5023.

National Air Force Museum of Canada:

Explore the history of Canadian Military Aviation from its birth in World War I to the present day. Explore artefacts, aircraft, and memorabilia. 8 Wing Trenton 613-965-2140, www.airforcemuseum.ca.

Museum of Agriculture Heritage:

Includes displays of a dairy barn, cheese factory, farm kitchen, and butter plant, as well as an antique calendar display. Located on the Stirling Fair Grounds, Stirling 613-395-0015.

Ameliasburgh Museum Complex:

An array of 14 buildings of agricultural and industrial history featuring a steam engine, art gallery, native displays, log cabin and blacksmith shop. Now includes the Victoria Schoolhouse home of the Quinte Educational Museum & Archives 613-966-5501.

Libraries

Belleville Public Library:

Our new library is approximately 40,000 square feet in area. The Canadiana Room houses the print reference material, including vertical files, of the Hastings County Historical Society, and has local newspapers on microfilm back to 1850. Genealogical and local history researchers can access the collection during regular library hours.
The Art Gallery, located on the second floor of the Main Library, features rotating exhibitions from renowned Quinte area artists.
