It's easy to get to Belleville by car, train, bus (or boat!). But once you're in town, try touring this historic Loyalist community on your own two feet. Start your urban explorations along the broad winding paths of the Bayshore Trail, on the shores of the Bay of Quinte. Follow the Parrott Riverfront Trail to the banks of the legendary Moira River, into the heart of town, where you will see the city's signature 19th century City Hall and Clock Tower. In the Victorian neighbourhood of the East Hill, stroll through the stately Corby Rose Garden, or visit the grand drawing rooms and period re-creations of Glanmore National Historic Site. Across the river, high in the West Hill, pass by the stone cottage of famous pioneer author Susanna Moodie.
Belleville is the gateway to a fisherman's paradise. In winter, hundreds of ice huts dot the bay, turning it into a small, offshore fishing village. Spring or summer, anglers of all ages drop their lines from the banks of the Moira. Vacationers can rent boats and buy bait at various spots near the waterfront. Make a weekend of the fishing expedition and enter the Annual Bass and Pickerel Derbys. Good prizes, good fun.
For the serious angler, Belleville hosts several professional tournaments every year.
Meyer's Pier is the ideal destination stop over for boaters. Families who choose the Trent System and the Bay of Quinte as part of their summer boating vacation are sure to enjoy the flavour and friendliness of Belleville, Meyer's Pier and Victoria Park.
The Bay of Quinte Yacht Club extends a warm welcome to visiting boaters. The Club, situated in Victoria Park features a year-round clubhouse with competitive sailing regattas. Visiting boats are invited to tie up in Belleville for a holiday or for the season.
Accenting Belleville's waterfront on the picturesque Kiwanis Bayshore Trail are two superior boat launches. These launch points are surrounded by beautiful park landscaping. The launches may be accessed for a small fee or by purchasing a seasonal pass.
The first of our launches is located at the end of South George Street. This launch has an all season-canteen with heated washrooms. Seasonal, weekend, and daily ramp passes can be purchased from the canteen, as well as from the Parks and Recreation Centre. Over 20 parking spaces are available for vehicle and trailers. Overflow parking is also available.
The second launch point is located at the end of South Herchimer Avenue. It is equipped with a ticket vending machine where daily passes may be bought. Over 20 parking spaces are available for vehicle and trailers. Overflow parking is available.
Belleville & District offers a number of public parks and trails for hiking,
nature walks, tennis, bicycling and picknicking.
The city maintains over 507 acres of parkland throughout its area. More than 13 kilometres of hiking and cycling trails, and parks along the Bay of Quinte and the Moira River, connect to the Trans Canada Trail system and the Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail.
Floral displays can be found at 11 locations to add colour to the city landscape, notably highlighted by Belleville's floral Canadian Flag on the Hwy. 401 hill in West Riverside Park. The Corby Rose Garden nestled on Belleville's historic east hill displays over 2000 roses, perennials, and annual flowers each summer. You can picnic throughout the City's parks and you can even bring up to 100 friends to join you in West Riverside, East Bayshore and Zwicks Parks.
Our city provides accommodations for visitors who enjoy walking, jogging, running or biking. Parrott Riverfront Trail provides an opportunity to walk alongside the Moira River, while the Kiwanis Bayshore Trail meanders long side the Bay of Quinte. Both trails provide a tranquil experience with nature.
As one of the City's major regional parks, Riverside has may amenities to offer visitors. Located just off Highway 401 and within the vicinity of the Quinte Mall, Riverside park offers the public the opportunity to jog, walk, have a picnic, and even play on a pirate ship. Come enjoy our view of the Moira River or get a close up view of our floral Canadian flag.
Relax and enjoy the fragrance of this quiet floral paradise located within easy walking distance of the downtown village. Corby Park, developed with the assistance of the Corby Family, is a photographer's delight when the thousands of roses are in bloom. Come stop and smell the roses at our beautiful Corby Rose Garden.
Follow Highway #62 South to Bay Bridge Road and you will find another regional park: Zwicks Centennial Park. This regional park provides an excellent location for large gatherings and recreational activies. There is also a supervised dog park where your dog(s) can run free.
This 630 acre park offers year 'round recreational opportunities for the public. Seven areas equipped with barbecues are provided for group or family picnics. There is a sand beach for swimmers and 8 km of nature trails. In winter, 6 cross country ski trails are marked for various levels of skill. Snowmobiling and snowshoeing are also popular. It is located north of Belleville on Highway 37.
Located east off Highway # 37 at Thomasburg, this 257 hectare site stretches along the Moira River. It is well known for its 15 kilometres of beautiful cross-country ski trails which, during the rest of the year, are also used by hikers, birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. Other facilities include parking, washrooms, picnic tables and shelter. A stretch of rapids in the river is a local attraction where the water tumbles over limestone "steps".

Bayview Golfing Centre are located west of Belleville on Highway #2. Within a short driving distance you can also find Oak Hills Golf Club, Pine Ridge Golf and Country Club, and Briar Fox Golf and Country Club.
