The Belleville Chamber of Commerce is pleased to celebrate the grand opening of Richter’s Market Co., an innovative new digital farmers market connecting residents with local producers across Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
The ribbon cutting ceremony with the Belleville Chamber of Commerce marks an exciting milestone for the business as it continues to expand its network of vendors and offerings, just in time for the upcoming harvest season.
Located at 45 Wilson Ave., and operating as a 24/7 online marketplace, Richter’s Market Co. offers customers a convenient way to shop local. The platform brings together products from regional farms, bakeries, and makers into one easy-to-use website, with next-day delivery available directly to local customers’ doors.
Founded by local entrepreneurs Jordon Richter, Eli Richter, and Julie Amodeo, the business was created with a shared passion for supporting the region’s agricultural community and making local food more accessible.
“We saw an opportunity to make it easier for people to support local producers,” said co-founder Jordon Richter. “There are so many incredible farmers, bakers, and makers in our region, but it’s not always convenient to access them. We wanted to create one place where people can shop local products and have them delivered right to their door.”
With deep roots in the local agriculture sector, the Richter team grew up immersed in farmers’ markets and family-run operations, inspiring their commitment to building stronger connections between producers and consumers.
Richter’s Market Co. stands out as a unique offering in the region by focusing exclusively on local goods. Customers can browse products from multiple vendors in a single order, simplifying the shopping experience while directly supporting small businesses.
Launching the business came with challenges, particularly in developing the technology and logistics required to manage multiple vendors and deliveries. However, strong community support and enthusiastic participation from local producers helped bring the vision to life.
“Seeing vendors get excited and want to be part of what we’re building was a defining moment,” added Richter. “It confirmed there was a real need for this kind of platform.”
Belleville was a natural choice for the business, situated at the heart of a vibrant local food network spanning Hastings County and Prince Edward County. The founders, all local to the area, are proud to contribute to the region’s economic growth and food culture.
To celebrate the launch, Richter’s Market Co. is currently offering three months of free membership for new customers. The company will also be participating in upcoming community events, including the Bay of Quinte Home Show later this month.
