City Council is preparing to vote on a proposed bylaw with new rates for residential and non-residential development charges based on the Development Charges Background Study and identified in Schedule B (end of document).
Urban rates for new non-residential development are proposed to increase to $26.64/square foot.
The new bylaw will be in place for 10 years and we have heard concerns this decision will have a significant negative impact on the competitiveness of the city to attract new development or support expansion.
The Belleville Chamber of Commerce is collecting additional details and comments in the confidential form below and will prepare a formal letter to Council for their consideration in making a decision to accept or amend the proposed bylaw.
