BELLEVILLE, September 22, 2026 —
The Belleville Chamber of Commerce brought the ribbon and scissors to a grand opening on Tuesday, September 22, to celebrate Sensory Hub Quinte, founded by Robin Grant and her husband, Marshall Grant, located at 415 B Bridge Street East. Local dignitaries attended to mark the occasion, including City of Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis, Belleville Chamber of Commerce Member Services Specialist Cristina Cadavid, and representatives from the MP and MPP offices.
Sensory Hub Quinte is a person-centred sensory and community participation hub designed to fill a critical gap in supports for transitional-aged youth and adults. The accessible space offers a safe, welcoming, sensory-supportive environment where people can regulate, socialize and participate in the way they choose. It also gives families and caregivers a place to connect and offers sensory room rentals for people of all ages. Robin Grant says it is the only space in the Quinte region providing such inclusive, sensory-aware and truly person-centred opportunities for neurodiverse community members.
Robin, the Hub’s owner and director, holds diplomas as a Developmental Services Worker and Social Services Worker and brings more than 30 years of experience in group living, independent living, schools, hospitals and treatment centres, in frontline, community and leadership roles. She and Marshall have also been Family Home Providers, in collaboration with Community Living Belleville and Area (CLBA), for 19 years.
Originally from Consecon in Prince Edward County, Robin has lived in Belleville for most of her adult life. Her husband, Marshall, originally from Jamaica, has made this region his home. Together, they have worked and raised their children here. Belleville’s central location in Hastings and Prince Edward counties made it feel like the right home for the Hub.
Getting to this point wasn’t smooth sailing, though; it took three years. Challenges included a lack of funding available to first-time, for-profit sole proprietors, a shortage of accessible spaces and zoning constraints. The team persevered because they knew the time was right and the need was great.
Sensory Hub Quinte is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The team will host an open house for community partners on Tuesday, September 22, and will soon share new opportunities to help reach a wider group of families.
“I have seen firsthand the significant gap in meaningful opportunities and supports for people after high school,” said Robin Grant. “Despite decades of change, that gap remains, and the demands on families often become greater as they age. I created Sensory Hub Quinte to help address that gap by providing an inclusive space where people can continue to participate, connect, explore and thrive in their community.”
“Seeing the support and encouragement from our community as we began building Sensory Hub Quinte and sharing our vision has been truly humbling,” she said. “But the real confirmation came when we welcomed our first visitors and saw their faces as they experienced the space for the first time. Seeing their excitement, curiosity and comfort made it clear that we were creating something our community truly needed.”
